The exclusive American walnut is an incredibly beautiful wood species for making furniture. Although we at Kaerbygaard work mostly in Danish wood species, we make a lot of furniture in American walnut. Therefore, we have established contact with a supplier who provides us with planks in first-class quality.
American walnut is a delicious and hard material to work with, and can be used to make furniture that will last for generations - as long as it's cared for with oil 1-2 times a year, and wiped down with a damp cloth every now and then.
We also have a stock of European and Danish walnut, which besides being lighter than the American one, also has a very different expression in the vein patterns. If you have fallen for the dark colour, we recommend buying a table in American walnut rather than using dark stains and oils, as in our experience it is impossible to achieve a result that justifies the real thing.

The process for walnut plank tables
When your tabletop in walnut designed and manufactured, you have the opportunity to determine how the surface treatment of the table should be. We have several different treatment methods – we primarily use oil treatments to give the tables the color you want.
Then walnut have a natural glow, we always recommend a neutral or natural colored oil. These oils highlight the natural red-brown colours of the walnut plank table, making the planks look exclusive and inviting.
In brief:
- Select one or more planks in oak, walnut or elm.
- Choose assault treatment. Here you can choose between different varnishes and oils according to your needs and color wishes.
- Choose between wood and metal table legs. Of course, we try to match the look of the tabletop.
- Select any additional plate or two in the through-colored MDF. They measure the width of the table x 50cm by default, but can be customized according to your wishes.
