Oak plank tables and dining tables in light, neutral and dark shades
When you have an oak table made by us, the wood is specially selected to give your table just the right natural look. We work on the principle that you should get something special when you buy a table from us. Buying one of our oak plank tables should be an experience, and we try to achieve this by including you in the whole process. This means that you get to choose your planks, and you also choose which surface treatment your table will have.

Before the oak plank table is manufactured
The course starts by us going out into the forest and choosing the most promising trees. Then the selected oak trees are felled, and before they become a tabletop, they are driven through a thorough drying process – first outside, then in the drying oven. This process is done to ensure that the table does not split when it acclimatizes to your home. Only the best or most special planks are selected to become countertops. Here you can participate in the selection of the planks we need for your oak table.

The oak tree is the Tree of the Danes
Oak is a popular material for several reasons. It is a beautiful wood with a characteristic golden colour and distinct grain, and its grace is highlighted and amplified as time passes and the tree works. In addition, it is an incredibly strong and durable wood species. The oak tree has a very special significance in Denmark, and the Danes have benefited from the tree since time immemorial. There have been oak trees in Denmark since 7000 BC, and Denmark's oldest tree is an oak named King's Own. The tree is between 1500 and 1800 years old. In 2000, the oak was also voted Denmark's national tree.

The oak tree has had a major impact on our society
Over the years, the oak tree has helped to form the framework around our society. In the old days, oak was used as timber for the construction of houses and warships. In fact, the oaks were then close to extinction in Denmark due to over-exploitation. Fortunately, efforts were made to grow more trees. Today, oak is still a popular raw material used for flooring, fencing, barrels, chests and not least furniture and decorative items. When we at Kærbygård work hard to preserve the original expression of the wood, it's because we want to honour its history and heritage.
